US Urges UN Members to Stop Supporting Russia’s War in Ukraine

(MENAFN) The United States urged all United Nations member states on Tuesday to stop providing any assistance that allows Russia’s war in Ukraine to continue, warning of the severe human suffering and global security risks caused by the conflict.

Speaking to the UN Security Council, US deputy envoy Tammy Bruce said, "Four long, brutal years have passed since the Russia-Ukraine war escalated to its current horrific scale, resulting in thousands of casualties," and called for the war to "end immediately."

Bruce highlighted that the Trump administration is advocating for a negotiated settlement, emphasizing that "Military force will never resolve this conflict – only a diplomatic solution, agreed to by both sides, can do so." She added, "We are closer to a deal right now than at any point since the war began. But we have obviously not reached it yet – the fighting continues."

The deputy envoy also criticized foreign support for Moscow, asserting that "China remains the decisive enabler of Russia’s war industrial machine." She said Washington has repeatedly asked China to stop supplying dual-use goods and components that end up in drones and other weapons used in Ukraine.

Bruce further condemned North Korea, Iran, and Cuba for allegedly providing troops, weapons, and technology that prolong the conflict, urging: "The United States calls on all UN Member States to end any and all support that enables the continuation of this deplorable war, which exacts a devastating human toll and threatens peace and security around the world."

China’s UN envoy Fu Cong responded sharply, stating: "The statement just made by the US representative once again smeared and vilified China, which is completely unacceptable."
