15 EU Nations Incorporate Ukrainian Military Aid into Defense Plans

(MENAFN) Every participating European Union member nation has delivered national defense investment blueprints under the Security Action for Europe initiative, a sweeping program designed to bolster military readiness and manufacturing capabilities across the bloc, EU Commissioner for Defense Andrius Kubilius announced Monday.

Kubilius revealed via US social media platform X that 15 of the 19 member states incorporated Ukrainian military assistance into their strategic plans.

"More than expected! And we talk about billions, not millions," he added.

The commissioner characterized the SAFE framework as critical for enhancing the EU's defense preparedness and guaranteeing long-term viability of its defense industrial base.

The European Commission unveiled in September a €150 billion—equivalent to $174.3 billion—defense fund through its newly launched SAFE program, engineered to fortify military capabilities throughout member states.

Under the commission's allocation structure, funding will flow to the 19 nations that requested assistance through a predetermined distribution mechanism.
