Ukraine Flatly Denies Biological Weapons Development
In a statement posted on X, the US-based social media platform, the ministry said its biosafety cooperation with Washington has been strictly confined to strengthening public health infrastructure, epidemiological surveillance, laboratory diagnostics and biosecurity — with no military dimension whatsoever.
The ministry stressed that laboratories operating under international assistance programs are civilian facilities functioning within the public health, veterinary and scientific sectors, and bear no connection to military objectives.
Kyiv also delivered a pointed rebuttal to claims about alleged biological weapons labs, dismissing them as an entrenched Russian narrative that has been repeatedly debunked on the international stage.
The ministry reaffirmed Ukraine's commitment to transparency and global biosafety cooperation, underscoring that Kyiv remains in full compliance with its obligations under the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention.
The denial comes in response to claims made by Russia's Investigative Committee in May, which alleged that Washington was funding biological weapons development on Ukrainian soil, as reported by a state news agency.
